Raízes Programme:

Structural private social investment

Challenge

CPFL Renováveis, one of the leading renewable energy generation companies, sought to restructure its private social investment programme in order to positively engage with the communities impacted by its operations and promote sustainable development in the regions where it operates.

Solution

Planning, execution, and management of the structuring programme for private social investment: Raízes Programme.

As an initial step in the project, an extensive diagnosis of local needs was carried out and the company's strategic objectives were thoroughly examined. Next, three main themes were defined to guide investments in 21 projects:

Each project was developed with a focus on local needs and included training, awareness raising, action plans and, where necessary, investments in materials and machinery.

Investments in: implementation of Nature-Based Solutions: permaculture and agroforestry techniques; implementation of water access systems in communities

Investments in: support for local health care – hospitals, neonatal health; prevention, protection and combating sexual violence against children, adolescents and young people in municipalities; digital inclusion;

Investments in: strengthening local production chains: recycling, coconut, honey, cassava, milk and food

Each project was developed with a focus on local needs and included training, awareness raising, action plans and, where necessary, investments in materials and machinery.
